Das Gerät kommt aus Großbritannien. Wie auch immer es den Weg auf die Insel gefunden hat… Entsprechend hat es einen anderen Stecker.

Historie des Radios (History of the radio)
Ich habe die Verkäuferin gefragt, wie dieses Radio den Weg auf die Insel gefunden hat. Ihre Antwort war:
I asked the saleswoman how this radio found its way to the island. Her answer was:
I’m not certain as it has been in our attic for a while …. but I think the radio belonged to my aunt, who moved into a care home a few years ago. She taught in the BFO (British Forces Overseas) school in or near Cologne in the 1950s (I think!)
She used to tell me how she used to drive from Germany to the UK in her Volkswagen Beetle, and it seems likely that she bought it back with her. (When she returned to live in the UK, she still visited Germany frequently, had German friends, spoke German – and can still sing songs in German.)
However, she also liked to visit second-hand shops and auctions – so might have picked it up in the UK – but I prefer the first option!

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, da es schon eine Weile auf unserem Dachboden liegt …. aber ich glaube, das Radio gehörte meiner Tante, die vor ein paar Jahren in ein Pflegeheim gezogen ist. Sie unterrichtete in den 1950er Jahren an der BFO (British Forces Overseas) Schule in oder in der Nähe von Köln (glaube ich!)
Sie hat mir immer erzählt, wie sie mit ihrem Volkswagen Käfer von Deutschland nach Großbritannien gefahren ist, und wahrscheinlich hat sie es mit gekauft. (Als sie nach Großbritannien zurückkehrte, besuchte sie Deutschland immer noch häufig, hatte deutsche Freunde, sprach Deutsch – und kann immer noch Lieder auf Deutsch singen.)
Sie besuchte aber auch gerne Second-Hand-Läden und Auktionen – hat es also vielleicht in Großbritannien erworben – aber ich bevorzuge die erste Option!
